Fuels are substances that release heat energy during combustion due to the oxidation process that occurs. In order for a substance to serve as fuel, it is important that it has a high calorific value, which is most affected by the carbon content. Sulfur has a very small effect on this characteristic of the fuel but is considered as a negative component because combustion produces sulfur dioxide, which has a harmful effect on the environment. The main products emitted during the combustion process of this type of fuel, which have the greatest impact on the environment are SO2, NOx, and CO2. Substitution of fossil fuels with alternative fuels is an increasingly common practice in the cement industry due to the increasing prices of fossil fuels as well as their limited resources. Alternative fuels include waste from other industries, including used tires, biomass residues, sewage sludge, and various commercial wastes. The aim of this work was to analyze the influence of the addition of alternative fuel to fossil fuel on the mineral composition of clinker and compressive strength of cement in the Heidelberg Materials Cement BiH company in Kakanj, BiH.
