Flotation tailings represent the sources of pollution due to degradation of the areas in the
vicinity of industrial facilities, raising dust that pollutes the air and penetration of
contaminated water into water courses. Flotation tailings Bor, which was the subject of
research in this paper, contains copper and is, therefore, a potential secondary raw material
for copper production. Bor flotation tailings is estimated at about 27 million tonnes, with
average copper content of about (0.2-0.4)%. According to rough estimates, about 50-100
thousand tons of copper lies trapped in the Flotation tailings in Bor.
This paper presents theresults of investigation the possibilities to produce copper from
flotation tailings by leaching with sulfuric acidunder different conditions.
