Abstract

The study presents the results of researching and conquering the technology of gravity bottom pouring
of cooper alloys in water cooled moulds. The new approach in this procedure is a specially projected
gating system which enables the gating of liquid metal without any interruptions. Thanks to the
skimmer inside the gating system, as well as the specially projected runner, all slag stays in the ingate.
The cast from runner, under the influence of the metalostatic pressure and the law of joint vessels,
goes through a set of ingates, fills the mold cavity with equal distance, until the final casting. A very
high quality of castings has been achieved. For the real evaluation of received results, parallel studies
have been done with castings received by centrifugal casting.
