Abstract

Steel shot is used in foundries as a means for mechanical cleaning of castings. Due to wear (mechanical damage) there is a change in size of shot. After some time of use steel shot it becomes unusable for shot blasting process and becomes waste. Studies have shown that this type of waste has good adsorption properties and it is suitable adsorbent for the removal of heavy metals from aqueous solutions. In this study, the percentages of adsorption and distribution coefficients of adsorption
systems of waste steel shot / Cr (VI) ions and waste steel shot / Ni (II) ions were determined.
