Abstract

This paper presents results that prove the existence reactions of chlorides binding to aluminates, analyzing monochloroaluminate-hydrate product of these reactions. It is also proven to increase the temperature been moving the balance of this reactions to the right. The obtained results are significant, considering the aspect of preventing corrosion of the steel reinforcement into the concrete. It is known that only free chlorides activate corrosion processes in the steel reinforcement in concrete. For the above studies were prepared samples of the cement paste. Chlorides from CaCl2 were added within the stage of the preparation of samples. The process of chloride binding to aluminates is followed by X-ray diffraction (XRD).
