Abstract

Cement is a mineral hydraulic binder which is formed by sintering (heat treatment) primary minerals of cement clinker at a sintering temperature. In the cement composite only cement releases heat by reaction with water, and image about the amount of heat or about temperature of solid concrete is obtained by determination of the heat of hydration of cement. Incorporation of cement with unknown thermal properties can lead to the release of large amounts of heat and high temperatures, which causes a large tightness of concrete with the creation of numerous cracks in the concrete mass. With that the compactness of concrete is weakened, and also the way to the mass is opened for various corrosive substances. In this paper, colorimetric method, or a method of dissolving was used for etermination of the heat of hydration of cement. Fly ash, has a great influence on the obtained values of the heat of hydration, and it can be determined that with the higher the content of fly ash in cement, the heat that is released during the process of hydration is less.
