For the production of self-compacting concrete for a specific application, with desired properties in fresh and hardened state, it is necessary to combine the constituent materials in the optimum proportions. The proportioning of self-compacting concrete has to start with defining the required properties. For a particular application, a self-compacting concrete mixture can be produced starting with the mixture based on the previous experience, then followed by the extensive experimental work and adjustments. However, it is much more efficient to use some of the numerous methods developed with various degrees of complexity and based on different principles or control parameters. This paper provides a review, as well as the analysis of the most widely used methods for proportioning
self-compacting concrete.
