Cefazolin sorption on oxycellulose was performed to obtain bioactive material which, as drug carriers, has a possibility of prolonged release and local application. Oxycellulose with different content COOH groups was obtained by selective oxidation. The bonding was performed in an antibiotic water solution concentration of c=3,4∙10-3 molL-1, while adsorption was performed in physiological solution. The maximum amount of the bound drug was 0,0337 mmolg-1 and the maximum amount of the released drug was 0,0091 mmolg-1. Antimicrobial activity of the samples with bound cefazolin was tested in vitro against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli by agar diffusion test.
